Turning on the wind

As I was walking through the house turning off the television and lights before an afternoon trip to the park, Anthony piped up: “Mommy, you forgot this one.”

He was standing by the fireplace, pointing at the switch for the blower. I find it hard to believe that he never noticed it before, although it’s right at eye-level for his current height.

Before I had time to reply that it wasn’t a light switch, he flipped it on.

We haven’t used the fireplace since last winter, and the sound of the blower startled Ant. He quickly turned it off.

Then, after looking thoughtful for a moment, he declared, “This one turns on the wind.”
